Lewis Leflar

Lewis B. Leflar, Jr. passed away peacefully at home December 12, 2013. He waged an inspirational battle against cancer with an uncompromised optimistic outlook and persistence to succeed. Throughout his life, Lewis always placed the needs of others first and was known for his sense of compassion and integrity. Lewis is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 32 years, Judy L. Leflar. He is survived by the pride of his life, his three loving sons, Lewis B. Leflar of Overland Park, KS, Loren B. Leflar of Chicago, IL, and Justin L. Leflar of Overland Park, KS. He has one daughter-in-law, Jessica S. Leflar of Overland Park, KS, and two grandchildren, Hannah S. Vegvary and L. Brandon Leflar, Jr., both of Overland Park, KS, along with so many more loving family and friends. As a veteran of the United States Navy, Lewis continued his service working for the United States Federal Government in Social Security Administration until his well- deserved retirement in 2006. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, at Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, KS 66224. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Church of the Resurrection. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, following funeral services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in memory of Lewis B.
